Requesting Funds

The Rotary Club of El Centro (Club) is one of the oldest and largest service clubs in Imperial Valley and is part of Rotary International, a global network of community volunteers. Rotary members are business and professional leaders who provide humanitarian service, encourage high ethical standards, and help build good will and peace in the world.

The Club contributes to the betterment of the community it serves through participation in community involvement opportunities, which allow the Club to build good will and better friendships with businesses, the nonprofit community, community-based organizations and the media.

The Club may consider requests for the following types of community involvement:
  1. Monetary grants to community and nonprofit organizations or group
  2. Sponsorships of community and economic development events
  3. Direct payment of media advertising at selected community events
Please fill out the Funding Request Form (found here) as specifically and as precisely as possible. Funding cannot be approved if the Club’s board of directors (Board) cannot tell exactly what you are requesting the money for. Generalizations such as "to help our students" or "to run our program" are not sufficient. You may attach any additional material you feel would be helpful to the Board in making its determination but the completed Funding Request Form is required in every case at least 30 days prior to the event.

So that the widest community benefit may be obtained from budgeted community involvement funds, requests will be evaluated according to the following criteria:
  1. Preference will be given to requests in one of the following three areas of focus:
    • Health and Wellness
    • Education and Literacy
    • Economic and Community Development
  2. Preference will be given to requests that provide benefits to a wide segment of the community. For example, the Club prefers to support organizations and activities that cover a larger part of the community as opposed to individuals and athletic teams/activities.
  3. Preference will be given to those requests that provide clear recognition of the Club’s contribution.

Requests should be forwarded to the club president:
