Bulletin # 5 for The Week of July 30, 2009

Pledge, Prayer and Song

Our prized President Emma called the meeting to order with the assistance of Edgar Aguilar, leading the Pledge of Allegiance. Bob Mapes prayed on our behalf and Sergio Santos led us in song. Sergio went non-traditional and had everyone sing acappella to America The Beautiful, everyone was challenged to project their voices and thus avoid a fine. Good job, everyone!

Visiting Rotarians and Rotarians With guests

Danny Nuffer was thrilled to not have any visiting Rotarians!

Chris Yeager’s guest again this week was Dr. Ronald Griffin, the new Pastor at El Centro Methodist Church.

Sergio Santos brought his son Nickolas Santos.

Bobby & Jim Brock introduced Ben Jones, Bobby’s 90 year old grand-father!

Announcements

Nancy Thornburg is reading trash novels, per President Emma’s challenge for “read a book- it’s literacy month”!

As told to Lee Hindman, The Holtville Club is meeting at The Women’s Club in Holtville…boy is that sweet revenge!

Seventy-five “Baby Bucks” were collected for Bob Barros’ new grand-son, Jacob, in addition he paid $100 to the foundation for the announcement!

Danny Nuffer went to the doctor and has had a Q-tip stuck in his ear for the past 6 months, he should be hearing a little better now! (Could this be Norm’s problem?!)

Paul McManus announced that Toastmasters is meeting next week.

Whining and Fining

It is going to be an educational year with President Emma !
“Are you Smarter than a 5th Grader?” She called upon Lily, Cynde, Kevin and Veronica to take a little “map quiz” to find out. They did pretty well and only had to pay $50

Norm went to Laguna where the temperature was only 83 degrees! That “cool” trip cost him $50.

Chris Yeager and Jose Guillen “passed the gavel” back and forth for being recognized as “the most efficient Court in the State” ! Chris paid $50 and Jose $100. Thanks Gentlemen for making us proud!

Ryan Childers has so many homes that he doesn’t know where to live! He bought 4 homes last year, with Rachford making great commissions off of him! He also went to Mission Beach for a week AND his wife is pregnant again!!

It cost Ed McGrew $50 for going to a concert, LAST YEAR with George McFaddin (where is George to defend his story?)

Dr. Guiterrez is back from Puerta Vallarta and it cost him $150 for trying to sneak into the meeting!

Veronica was in “voice of the people” with a high compliment for getting some kids back into their home. She paid $100 to Paul Harris for “giving out.”

Drawing

There was not a program. However, Ed Snively won the $26 in the pot!

Don’t forget, next month is “Membership Month”!
