MEMBERSHIP PROPOSAL PROCEDURE
- Secure a proposal card from the Club Secretary.
- Complete the form and return it to the Club Secretary. The proposal is kept confidential during this preliminary phase.
- The Club Secretary requests the classification committee to report eligibility re:classification.
- The Club Secretary requests the membership committee to investigate re: character, business and general eligibility.
- The Board considers the committee reports and approves or disapproves the recommendation of the committees.
- With a favorable decision by the Board, the sponsoring Rotarian and one or more members of the Rotary Information Committee informs the prospective member of the purposes, responsibilities and privileges of membership.
- After several visits to regular meetings as a guest, the prospective member is asked to sign the membership application. This signature allows the proposeds name to be published.
- After receiving application, the Club Secretary publishes the prospective members name in the club bulletin.
- If no member files a written objection within ten (10) days after publication, the prospective member is considered to be elected to membership. The Club Secretary notifies the sponsoring Rotarian of membership approval. The sponsoring Rotarian then notifies the new member.
- If at least one objection is filed by a member, the Board will meet and consider the prospective member. If no more than two (2) votes are cast against the prospective member by the board, the prospect is considered elected to membership.
